It was at the Academy Award's back in 1999...it was actually nominated for Best Song! Somebody had to perform it live..I guess they thought Robin Williams was a good choice. The woman who actually sang it for the movie (Mary Kay Bergman as Cartman's mom) had died a few months before so she obvoiusly wasn't available. :(

It lost to Phil Collins' song You'll Be In My Heart which..for you South Park fans...is why they bashed the song and Phil Collins in an episode called "Timmy 2000" soon after. If I recall correctly it included Phil geting...umm...rectally violated....with the Oscar... :) ..Ya gotta love Matt and Trey.

It was a strange, strange moment. Strange and funny too.

Just for comparison purposes I tracked down a version from the movie with unexpectedly awkward audio quality.
