I tested a few sites before I posted and it seemed to work so I dunno if it's legit or not. Meh

Oh, I am sure it is legit. Now it says Plime is up. It probably has a time limit that it waits to verify the site. If the site is taking longer than the limit, it will report it as being down.

Plime was probably just a bit too slow to access when I checked it previously.

Well I hope it does work because I've many a time wondered if there's something wrong with my connection when a sites been down, now I'll be able to find out for sure :)

If the error code starts with 5 when plime doesn't work, its a server issue.

Not quite. You only get those error codes if the webserver is up and can be reached. If there's a routing problem between you and site X, there's a chance that this site can reach it without problems.

If theres a routing problem between you and site X, the HTTP status code will reflect that and it can be assumed that there is a possiblility that other users don't suffer from the same problem. But as for the question "Is it only down for me?", a 5xx error code would mean no, otherwise the chances are that it is just a problem with your connection.

Could you please explain to me how you would get that status code if you can't even connect to the server?

Status codes are only sent after the HTTP request is received. If you can't establish the connection, you can't send the request and you won't get a status code.
