Although I may have issues with "The Man", I think it's totally valid what the Australian government is doing if they truly are abusing children. Hope they can get it under control.

One room house, yes.. children do find out about sex earlier than in 'civilized' communities.

Average life span 17, yes.. children WILL begin have marriages, sex, and kids at as young as 13. That's middle age folks.

People from outside are trading sex with minors for drugs, this isn't the community, this is the outsiders. It's not the community's fault that YOUR outsiders are coming in with drugs and asking for sex in exchange. They did the wrong thing by allowing it, but that's like saying that the Austrailian government did the wrong thing by allowing the miners (not minors) in.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for tying welfare checks to 'no alcohol' stances. But to take away land from a group of people claiming a 'national emergency' and trying to 'protect it's children' is not the right response.

I liken it to England taking away Austrailia from the Aussies because of it's children being abused. No, you gave it to them, it's theirs to keep and do with as they wish.

Well we didn't exactly give Australian to anyone we just dumped a load of convicts there.

As far as the restrictions put on the Aborigines, I think that if they can't govern their own community and sort out the abuse going on whether the abuser is Aboriginal or not then someone needs to step in.

Any semblance of maintaining the innocence of childhood is a myth in so many of these communities, and we feel very strongly that this kind of action is needed.”

From this statement and other articles I've read the abuse is both physical and sexual and happens from a very early age, so clearly something has to be done.

I don't know whether taking their land will help the situation or if it's just a good excuse for the government to take back land they already begrudge to the Aborigines.

The whole story just echo's what happens around the world. White man goes to a land, oppresses and mis-treats the indigenous,non-white people, then the indigenous peoples eventually start degenerating socially because being oppressed, mis-treated and pushed aside financially leads to negativity, lack of motivation and that keeps people down and from sbeing able to or wanting to strive for more. This in turn leads to things like drug abuse, alcohol abuse ect and that then brings all the problems associated with it such as domestic abuse, sexual abuse and more.

It happened in America with the Native Americans, then not content with f**king things up for them whitey actually brought African people to their country and then f**ked things up for them too.

It's a talent we white folk have, we take a perfectly good culture or land thats running pretty damn smoothly, everything's going pretty good,and we just mess it up. I for one think that takes guts, determination, drive and talent and is what makes western man so damn unique. o_0

Lmfao! That's so true. Of course your right in saying that the western world has helped in certain ways but as you say we then introduce new and more virulent diseases to them that kill far more lol.

I think on balance I'd rather be in some "backward" tribe than live with the bulls**t of the western world sometimes.

At least they don't have any taxes :)
