Darnell Turner, vice president of the East County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said he fears the club could morph into a white-supremacy group after Lisa graduates.

This whole story just chaps my hide.

I honestly don't understand why it's OK to be proud of being Black, Hispanic, Asian, Cuban or whatever - but when you want to be proud of being a white, then your a freakin' racist.

Oh, I'm sorry...should I have said being proud of being African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American and European-American?

I'm with icepigs on this. It's ridiculous! Have the other clubs morphed into black/asian/hispanic/etc... supremacy groups since their founders graduated? Why would a gathering of caucasian children automatically become a KKK rally? And if racist issues did arise from ANY of the clubs, couldn't the school do something like step in and close the club?

I agree. It's almost as though white's are supposed to be ashamed by the color of their skin. Segregation is supposed to be outlawed, yet there are race exclusive clubs and schools. What is this teaching our children. You can have pride in your race so long as it isn't anglo?
