I think we can now come up with a new rule. In order to be a "powerhouse" on the global scale, sit-down toilets are a requirement. No sit down toilets, you're still third world.

I'm going to Beijing for an Asian philosophy class this coming week and apparently they think it's barbaric to have sit-down toilets. Why in the world would you want to sit where someone else has been sitting?

I've never sat on a sit-down toilet. I've always hovered.

I think a squat toilet would be better everywhere.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. I LOVE obscure references.

If they don't, you can just swear into the machine on the wall.

I'm still bothered by that mystery.

I agree with dollyllama - moving up from a rating of "third world" on the global country scale definitely requires civilised sit-down toilets!
