You would think they would have better security measures. When Maddie was born before she even got out of the delivery room she was tagged round the ankle with an electronic tag. The tag was encoded using a computer using some serious encryption software before she was released onto the ward.

Part of the tags power was that if it went within 15ft of an exit door the whole maternity unit was locked down and security were called along with the police, same thing happened if the tag was cut off.

The ward also had consantly monitored CCTV and mothers were expected to take the babies everywhere with them.

I'm not a native English speaker, but i'm pretty sure it's stupid to call it a secure hospital unit in an article which reports abduction

This kind of thing was exactly why I was SO PISSED when a nurse took my 1-day-old daughter out of my room in the middle of the night without telling me or my husband (we were asleep). It was for a hearing test. They had a good reason for doing it at night, although I can't remember what it is now. But still, freaking wake the new mother up and TELL her before you take the infant out of the room at 1am! I was livid.

The hearing test has to be done in a quiet environment. I guess that's why they did it in the middle of the night.

When Maddie was born they tried to do it through the day but it was too noisy so they came back later after visiting time.

I would have freaked big time if the took her without telling us.
