Muslim sex offenders could opt out of treatment programme 'because it's against their faith'
Muslim sex offenders could opt out of treatment programme 'because it's against their faith'
Muslim sex offenders are asking to be let off a prison treatment programme on religious grounds. Rapists, paedophiles and other dangerous attackers are expected to discuss their crimes with other inmates as a condition of release. But Muslim prisoners complain that criminals should not have to talk about their offences - a "legitimate Islamic position", according to Ahtsham Ali, the Prison Service's Muslim adviser. picked by AutumnLotus 2 years ago

Of course this is the UK. They bend over backwards even more than the US to cater to any desire that a Muslim makes. Allow them to follow whichever laws they feel like obeying and more.

I shudder to think what will happen to the UK in the very near future.

It looks like the people making decisions aren't considering allowing it. That's good at least.

A Prison Service spokesman said officials were seeking to ensure the treatment programme was sensitive to "the diversity of religions within the prison context".
IT'S PRISON.

Maybe they should be charged under Islamic law as well? I believe the penalty for stealing is to get their hands sliced off...

Wonder what else you can slice of a sex offender?

Well, after looking it up, they either get stoned to death or receive a hundred brutal lashes.
24:2 The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment.
That's the original part of the Qur'an. But the hadith say this:
This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime (illegal sex), but if married persons commit it (illegal sex), the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah’s law
Interesting, eh?

I'm not going to claim that giving in to Muslim demands has never happened in the UK, but this is a case of "The Daily Mail Strikes Again."

  • An incentive of a reduced sentence would appear to be available to sex offenders who complete treatment by group therapy.
  • A convicted sex offender has asked to get these same incentives without completing the group therapy sessions.
  • The sex offender has been refused these incentives
  • The Daily Mail has spun this to make it appear that the evil Muslims have gained yet another victory over the white man, this furthering their agenda of hatred, xenophobia and racism.

The Daily Mail are very proficient at their journalistic sleight of hand, but that is what they do.

Of course, whether or not any sex offender should be considered for early release on the strength of having spent a few hours telling each other just how sorry they are over tea and biscuits is a different matter altogether.

Again, like I said before. This doesn't make me or most people xenophobic. It only makes me irritated at the government.

Alright the story is slanted. I see that now. But either way why would someone be angry at muslims for being given special treatment? Be angry at the ones who grant the special treatment.

.com wishes to know when a person is arrested and convicted of a crime, does the person have the right to dictate what would be his/her punishment?

If the answer is no, then those Muslim sex offenders have no right to dictate what programs they should take part in as part of their rehabilitations. It is common sense.

Does Koran advocate sexual molestation of children?

If no, they should not be bringing their religion up.

This is rather bizarre: to use religion as a defense for evading a program that is designed to help them address their sexual crimes.
