Don't upvote it then.
I think it's a way to help people avoid asking the same questions over and over again, and if you read the forums, you'll know that there are a few problems wich are adressed about weekly. Maybe people don't check the FAQ first because they did when they joined months ago, but the really frequently asked questions were just added recently. Maybe a news post is more likely to be read by many than the FAQ forum - hardly anyone seems to be reading it, as you can tell from just a quick glance at the recent threads.

I think it's a great service to periodically post a link to the FAQs on the news page, since we don't have a sticky feature, yet, to keep it on top of the page.

Everyone should read the FAQs.
