This thing was absolutely bonkers! Sad thing is these kids are still going to be brainwashed and guilted into this kind of life by their parents.

I just watched the hour and a half documentary and wow. Just wow. I don't even know what to say about what I just watched. If I was confused about religion before I am even more confused now. I don't know whether I am afraid or happy or sad or how do even describe it. My brain is quite a muddled mess right now. I like to think of myself as religious but I do not participate in religious activities that are vaguely cult-like. It frightens me. And it fascinates me.

This is one of my major issues with the Church. The church has turned Christianity into a cult. If they read the Bible, most of the stuff they do goes directly against what the Bible says.

War in Iraq? Unbiblical, but the majority of Christians whole heartedly support it. Speaking in tongues? Unbiblical without a true translator (complicated, don't get me into it).

I didn't watch the clip, I've been wanting to watch the video forever after seeing the trailer. I believe that Ted Haggard is in this video, and he's from my city. The guy absolutely disgusted me, and always gave me a creepy vibe. The he gets into this male prostitution thing.

And he did weekly conference calls with George Bush.It bugs me that he didn't stick up for what was right when it came to the war.

What bothers me more is the things that are in the bible that these people teach.

Guilt, Hellfire, homosexuality is a sin (prejudice against gay people), Talking animals (a LOT of talking animals)

As someone brought up in a bible-bashing household I lived from a young age with the full burden of sin and the guilt that came from natural human behaviour and the normal things that teens/adolescents are interested and dabble in. The burden of so much "sin" at a young age almost went on to make me mentally ill with the stress and guilt that was imposed on me.

To see these people making these kids cry and using fear and emotional blackmail to indoctrinate these kids and to mold them into something for their own purposes made me shed a tear. The sad thing is it's not just these people who do this, it happens to millions of kids round the world born into deeply religious households.

They were feeding these kids a load of propaganda and conditioning them. Kids should be allowed free reign as far as beliefs go irrespective of what the parents believe. My eldest boy believes in God, I'm an Atheist. Thats ok though because I respect his rights. I don't force my beliefs on him.

As for Ted Haggard his hypocrisy is the thing that bothers me, the sad thing is that the thing that bothered most Christians was not the drugs but the fact he was alleged to have been with a gay man.

I don't understand why that bothers you. And actually, the Bible doesn't say homosexuality is wrong, it says homosexual actions are. But I don't really wanna get into that debate anymore.

I don't think the fact that he had an affair with a gay man was the biggest issue. The biggest issue was his hypocrisy, and then his relationship with the man. He claimed not to use the drugs, so that's why it wasn't an issue.

Frankly, using drugs in and of themselves isn't a sin by any biblical standard. Using them to an excess is.

I started getting in trouble lately when I referred to him as Ted Faggard (haha I thought it was a great play on words). She said that it was disrespectful. I agree, I still think it's funny though lol.

I hate outward actions like this. I went to a Christian High School, and I refused to stand up while singing or praying. I wouldn't go up to the cross and pray. I still haven't been baptized, because I have an issue with people who do it just to be "seen". It's not authentic, and that's where I have my biggest issue.

I'd say it bothers millions of gay people the world over, the fact that the church and the bible lumps them in with murderers, liars ect. It bothers me as well because the church and religion has added to the prejudice against gay people. I have gay friends and the thought that you and others think that what they do in the privacy of their homes is a "sin" makes my skin crawl.

Fag to me is a pretty offensive word, it kind of smacks of derision and prejudice.

I understand that. But to me, even if we forget about the idea of homosexuality as a sin (like ignore the issue entirely), everyone on Earth IS a liar and therefore still not perfect.

It's as if every person has this *one* sin attached to them, when really everyone has many sins that they choose to do.

Right, this too I understand. I have NEVER and I will never refer to anyone as a "Fag." However, I thought it was a very clever play on words dealing with Mr. Haggard. But still, I have never called anyone a Fag.
