I read this article... sounds like basic entrapment to me... if a cop did this to you, any sane judge would throw the case out...
Its not a principle's job to play Columbo... meby if she didn't spend all day setting up stings with confiscated cell phones, more of her students would graduate high-school being able to read.

The Princial had a confiscated Cell phone, a text came in asking if the cell phone owner wanted to buy pot. The principal said yes and called the cops.

He didn't 'Set up a sting'. There was no planning or 'setup'.

When you get suspended from school because you were in a fight with someone else, it doesn't matter if you were getting beat on and not fighting back, nobody gets to bring a lawyer to stop the 3 day suspension, there are no rules of evidence that have to be followed and nobody is advised of their rights.

Why?

Because a school suspension is not the same as a criminal punishment. It doesn't follow the same rules. It's at the discresion of the administration in order to make the school a better place.

Was he trying to sell pot?

Yes.

Was he trying to sell it on school grounds?

Yes!

Should he be suspended?

"Butwhataboutmyrightsandprivacyandfreedomand..."

Y E S, he should!

Principals really have no business reading the messages on confiscated cell phones, especially when they get confiscated because someone just forgets to put their phone on silent.
