Even if chickens communicate information, that doesn't make them "intelligent" the vast majority of animals convey information via sound, visual, and other methods. Even insects such as bees convey information by "dancing". It is an logic fallacy to equate conveyance of information with intelligence.

Many animals and even birds teach their young to build nests, hunt prey, etc. Again. That doesn't mean that robin singing outside your office is intelligent
