ONE SAILOR calmly tells the camera that America went to war for oil. Another, while slurring drunk and again when stone sober, is shown making racist comments. Yet another naval serviceman, who counsels crew members about sexually appropriate behavior, is caught having sex with a shipmate of a lower rank.
Not exactly the message the Navy wanted to broadcast

…Also in the news, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have each announced that they are are joining the Navy.
…Actually, this is not the first time that the Navy has had women on submarines. The problem was that they kept sinking them when they opened a porthole to ask for directions.
...You can make your own joke up about seamen.

Perhaps the hazing was just your normal hazing typical of such groups. However most feel that the reason the hazing went way way over the line was because of what one of the victims did behind closed doors. The Navy forcing out a non-com officer sends a message that they won't look the other way (at least not when the media picks up the case?)

At least a dozen warships provide a physical guard while the technical wizardry of the world's only military superpower offers an invisible shield to detect and deter any intruders. That is the theory. Or, rather, was the theory.

The building of the new Navy warship, the USS New York, has finally been completed and the ship is leaving the Louisiana shipyard for the Big Apple today. The 684 feet long and 105 feet wide ship, constructed by Northrup Grumman, was built with 7.5 tons of steel from WTC wreckage.

The Royal Australian Navy is paying for women sailors to have breast enlargements for purely cosmetic reasons, at a cost to taxpayers of $10,000 an operation. Defence officials claim the surgery is justified because some servicewomen need bigger breasts to address "psychological issues".
