I'm going to assume this took place in Churchill, because antics similar to this always take place in Churchill, where idiots think this sort of thing is humourous and that the bears aren't really that dangerous.

I've been too close to Nanuuq to appreciate any humour in that situation, although I find a bit of cynical humour in the fact that people as stupid as that man exist.
