He should "make lemonade" out of this. Get out of jail, write a self-help diet book and make millions.

He does have a valid point.

He hasn't been convicted of any crime. At this point, he's simply awaiting trial.

He should not be forced to lose weight.

If a 200 pound man needs 2,200 calories to maintain his weight at equilibrium, then a 400 pound man needs approximately 4,400 calories.

In fact, based on his weight loss over an eight month period, my calculations show this to be the case.

I think his weight loss will stop at 250 pounds, based on a 3,000 calorie diet.

However, the rapid weight loss can result in health problems.

I don't think the jail system should be allowed to jeopardize the health of an accused.

Once again, I will remind everyone that this is not a convict. He is innocent unless proven guilty.

If he were making the claim on the basis of potential health problems, possibly. But 3000 calories is MORE than an average person needs to survive. There is nothing that states that someone will be fed MORE than they need to survive, much less maintain an obese condition and there isn't any reason to presume that his health is in jeopardy.

Care to mention the formula you used for this? Equilibrium of what, his steady weight gain? Eating so much a day doesn't make you grow to a particular point and then you stop. The fat will continue to build up.

Is he being forced? Are they withholding less than the daily required calories?

There's more to nutrition than calories. A 400 pound man doesn't need 4,400 calories. He's merely used to have that much. His body will adjust to the calories he's taking in now. He's more than likely eating better foods in prison than when he was out.

However, the rapid weight loss can result in health problems.
He lost a supposed 100 pounds in 8 months. That's 12.5 alleged pounds per month. That's not really that rapid.

What about the health risks of being 400 pounds? My uncle had to lose weight when his back and feet were strained by his weight.

I don't think the jail system should be allowed to jeopardize the health of an accused.
Are they? They may actually be making him healthier.
