Thank you. Why his parents indulged him for 4 years escapes me. I like Bret Favre, and many other players, but still, his parents should have stopped this. What a stupid thing to do.

/go ahead, beat me. sorry dolly.

Did he take it off or did it rot off?

I don't see the issue...His momma washed it every other day, and mended it when needed. It wasn't as if he wore it nonstop.

Thankfully he wasn't a LeBron or Jordan fan. 23 years would have been a long time...

but really, why 4 years and not when they retire Farve's #? Retire the number, retire the shirt?

He's 12. That pretty much explains it all. He's discovering a new obsession. Hormones are flowing.

from the article:

His mother, Carolyn, had washed the jersey every other day and mended it when needed.

The only issue I would have with this is the fact that this kid had such an extreme obsession with Favre. That would worry me as a parent if my child showed signs of such intense devotion to something. Who's to say he won't obsess over something possibly harmful later.

To each his own though. I don't know the kid so this is pure speculation that may be way off.

Sorry, I just don't see a problem here.

It's not like he was a Cowboys fan. ;)

I thought you were red-shirted first and then you got to play with the big boys.
