The M&Ms thing has good reason and sense to it.

Van Halen have a pretty complicated stage show and some of it involves the local organisers. If they can't follow the simple instruction of sorting M&Ms then it's not too likely that they will be able have followed the more complex directions for the stage show and so they don't go on.
