Roman Catholic clergy are telling Filipino faithful that "children are riches, and the more you have, the more blessed you are." But health officials and some politicians say that the Philippines has an overpopulation problem that condemns millions of children to poverty.

I feel sorry for these poor kids.
The Phillipines is in a terrible state. They don't grow nearly enough food to feed their people. Even plain rice is in a state of extreme shortage.
Their GDP per capita is very low as well, due to this huge population of children and baby makers who don't work.
50% population growth in 18 years?
It's time to put birth control into the water supply.
Perhaps some foreign investment into factories would help this country as well. What they need is a huge increase in GDP.
China accomplished that by attracting businesses with cheap labour.
