Hex was born with a sibling partially absorbed into his body. Surgery was planned to correct the various complications this raised but Hex died before it could be done.

Not the happiest story, I know, but for balance sake it's important to realise that sometimes the plucky little creature doesn't overcome the odds.

I am surprised that the operation would have only cost $2400-$3000.

I also have to wonder how much the TWO charities set up raised for this operation.

(well one was a charity for other veterinarian uses and the other appeared to be strictly for the family's wallet which would disqualify it as a charity)


I would venture to say it was far far far in excess of the $2400-$3000

In this case, though, it was the vet who caused the problem with his Barium. It went into the system of the internal twin and ate away at the poor kit's insides. How awful.

From the details given it's difficult to say, but it's highly likely that the kitten would have died without any intervention.

The vet would have needed the map created by X-rays after the barium injections, and it's possible that there was no way to avoid this.

It may well have been just one of those things.
