Left Lane Drivers Unite!
Left Lane Drivers Unite!
Over the past few years, traffic has become increasingly congested and tempers now flare as slower drivers occupy what has been historically referred to as the “fast lane”. It’s time to get that Left Lane back! picked by muppet 7 months ago

Now all we need are bumper stickers that say:

Hey, you stupid redneck, this isn't NASCAR. Stop drafting and get off my flippin' bumper!

Man, tail-gaters really piss me off!

Haha, I remembered this. I live on the WV side of the WV/Ohio border and used to have to drive through Ohio to get to work in Kentucky and OH MY GOD every morning I wished I had one of those stickers.

Buckeyes, I love ya, but y'all abuse the left lane something fierce.

On this note...Speeding up to 10 over the speed limit to go through the passing zone and then resuming your puttering 5 miles UNDER is not a good idea.

RIGHT! I drove 450 miles today and I can believe the people that that poked around in the left lanes! I saw traffic backed up for miles because someone thought they had the god given right to drive in the left lane.
Bazookas.. that's what we need.. bazookas! Blow the SOB's off the road!

My husband does that slow left lane driving and it makes me crazy! It's actually illegal in at least Alabama and Illinois to drive in the left lane unless you are passing someone. Get OVER!

Whenever some little hotshot in a pair of Oakleys and some brand new European vehicle cuts me off doing 85 on the interstate, WATCH OUT. I will pass your little number and pace a semi for hours you little turd. Also, I do this a lot:

So don't drive like an obnoxious sod.

This thread got too real for me. Don't try to be a "Fast lane cop", please. Your setting yourself for a road rage situation.

In Colorado, it's state law that you may not be in the left lane except to pass...in non-traffic times.

Basically it's a yielding law. If someone behind you is driving faster than you it is your job to move over.

It works pretty well.

Wish they had a law like that here in L.A. I call these slow-in-the-left-lane drivers one-person traffic jams. They create headaches for the other drivers. It is quite irritating.

In the UK you are not allowed to drive in the right hand lane (we drive on the other side) the outside lane is for passing only you pass then pull back in (in theory).

Oh, sweet jeebus is this ever my pet peeve.

We travel a 15 mile stretch of interstate every day, and every day it's the same thing. Some damn fool is sitting in the left lane going a half a mile an hour faster, and then acts all persecuted when the twenty or so cars behind him get pissed off.

Trucks can be just as bad, but they have governors, and once they do get out of their own way, they usually get over.
Usually.

I'm a left lane driver and I move along at a good pace. If I see someone coming up behind me I move over so they can move ahead.

I agree getting angry over what people do on the road is just dangerous, trying to get "even" is more so.

I don't tailgate unless I know there's a break in the line so I can pass coming up (country roads). Sometimes I'll legitimately pass someone going slower and they'll be all angry about it, what? They'll put their brights on or speed up to tailgate me. Why?

Some people are just rage-aholics.

AMEN! And I live in Ohio.

Better yet, those drivers IN those lanes won't move for fire trucks or ambulances either. And Oh, I DO so ride their bumper when they don't move over for me, too.

One time, Karma paid a visit to someone who would not move over for us. The person who would not let us pass, pulled into the driveway of where the patient was. The patient was alright, but somehow thought it would be better if they got their first.

We were on a one lane road with lots of opposing traffic and couldn't pass unless mommy moved and she didn't.

The people on scene were complaining about our response time and we pointed to her.

I believe PA has the same law. Doesn't mean anyone abides by it. But I can say, it does piss me off when I'm going 80 mph in the left lane and actively passing many cars in the right lane, and have someone in front of me doing 80 as well, but some joker still insists on riding my rear bumper. I can only go as fast as the person in front of me and can't move over until I clear right lane traffic. grrrrr!

And don't forget, going by observation only, and with no reference to the Highway Code, it seems that the correct proceedure for motorway driving is to get into the middle lane as soon as is possible and not stray from that lane by an inch until the journey is over, regardless what traffic is building up in front of or behind.
