 Chinese Put Goldfish in Trinkets.
Chinese Put Goldfish in Trinkets.
A cute little cartoon fish is one of the mascots for the Beijing Olympics. But this sick tourist trinket shows a shocking contempt for the creatures – with a live goldfish stuffed into a
tiny plastic bag on a keyring. picked by muppet 1 year ago

« DerAlt : You're a pretty sick puppy my friend.

Tempers like that are usually found only in racist individuals.
Mr. Schoepf, we know your ancestry is German, and you consider yourself of the "Aryan Race".

However, I would appreciate if you do not stick your German nose into something which is none of your business.

I would like to be able to make my valid points without having to be constantly downvoted by persons such as yourself.

Please do not make us go to Philadelphia to pay you a visit.

« pocksucket : Does anyone else think this is just pure racist BS of the anti-China propaganda type that was so rife about six months ago?
Yes. How many times do "sick" and "cruel" appear in that article?

And so what if Chinese people eat dogs; Inuit eat seals after beating them over the head with a club. Most North Americans eat beef that came from a cow that was tasered and likely sawed while still alive. *sigh*

« pocksucket :I mean c'mon - think about it for longer than 12 seconds and you have the implication of a factory with a distribution network so good that it can make a product that will last for 1-2 hours and can get that to the retail point and be sold before the fish dies.

It's not what you'd call a realistic proposition now is it?

(Muppet - as you hopefully realise, I'm attacking the article here, not you for posting it).
I agree. While I wouldn't be surprised if this was true, I have a hard time believing it. Unless the manufacturers have trained on-site people to seal the fishies into the little bags, I'm not convinced this is as popular as the article suggests.

I'd love to hear your valid points, unless you consider "f**k off" to be a valid point, in which case you'd be best to put the shovel down and just walk away before you dig yourself deeper.

I have made by points. The replies to Deralt1 were right down to his level.

He has been giving me negative votes on anything I post, comment on, etc. for many months now, without valid rhyme or reason.

Therefore, I don't feel it justified to respond to his comments as I would respond to a normal human.

In any case, I have made my points in separate comments.

« pocksucket : Exactly - what kind of business proposition is that? Half your produce turns up unsaleable? The whole thing is just a nonsense.
Do you realize how cheap goldfish are? half of the goldfish in those over crammed fishtanks at petsmart will die before the week is out but they are still making a good profit. Those lil fish are very cheap, even in china.

That, in itself, is an incredibly racist statement. Ever been to China? Know this stuff first hand?

This is just like all those other stories of crazy, unusual or cruel things done by Asians. It creates an "Us and them" scenario.

It's the same as the story you may know about Gerber baby food in Africa with the picture of the baby on the label. It's a fiction created to instil divisionist feelings.

I'm not saying there aren't things go on in China that you and I would deem as cruel, but this just isn't one of them.

Ignoring the illogical premise of the story, that it doesn't exist in any form other than this article from the Daily Mirror*, a paper not known for journalistic accuracy, should ring alarm bells.

If you want a reason to condemn an entire nation, then that's your choice, but this isn't it.

And that, ultimately, is the most frustrating thing. This does nothing to address the injustices and inhumanities that are carried out - it trivialises them, turns them into a source of entertainment.

*Admittedly this is something that you're less likely to know outside the UK, but trust me on that - it's a rag.
Granted it was done in an over the top manner I still agree with my statement. There are many countries that seem to show little if any respect for the like and china isn't one of those countries.

Their government treats the people as though they are disposable, and couldn't give a rats ass what they do so long as they don't interrupt the Olympics, or visit a porn site.

Granted the US is guilty of the same kind of fish abuse, this isn't the first time China has been accused of being inhumane. It wasn't long ago that dogs were ripped away from their owners (while on leash) and clubbed to death in public to help fight the rabies epidemic.

And please do not call this racism, racism is the blind prejudice for someone based on their skin color, not culture. I have no problem with Asians of any sort, it is the Chinese culture in particular that bothers me, and they are not the only ones.

I also have a particular dislike of Mexico, France, most of Florida. It may not be justifiable, but I am allowed to blindly dislike any place I feel like without automatically being called a racist.

So, why single out China?
ZZZ, I understand what you are saying, what I think we (at least me) are saying is that as right as you are, this was not the thread for it.

As for the first part of your quote above - a large portion DON'T support the war. It is a hideous war, no doubt, and in my opinion, for no valid reason people (lots of people) are dying.

Second - why single out China? Because that is what and where the article was about, no other reason.

In the 70's, there was a fad in the US of goldfish in the heel of shoes. That was blasted too.

It has been obvious, by most of your comments in this and other threads that you are probably the most predudiced and racist member of Plime.

You are so intellectually vacant that your comments, particularly your response to me in this thread, are not based on any reasoned thinking but simply gutter filth, threats, and a betrayal of your true beliefs as regards heritage.

I have not bothered in downvoting your comments because they are usually beneath notice and the downvoting is the result of other Plimates that disaprove of your verbal garbage. It really does little good to upvote your own comments, many Pilimates recognize you for what you are.

I will not lower myself to the sewage level of of your comments and I will not respond any further to your stupidity. Be happy in your pathetic self induced ignorance.

"Sick", "cruel", "barbaric"... I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the author is overdoing it with the loaded words there. But then again, people are more inclined to be drawn to shocking or offensive stories, right?

And uhh... how is this that much different from goldfish that you win in fairs? They're in small plastic bags, too. I would cut the keychain open and put the fish in a bowl... However, what the majority of buyers do with them is not something I'm aware of.

So much propaganda... and not just against China. Jeeze, I just take this as a grain of salt. It's as if the media is trying to create tension between countries all the time.
