Courage is dead. Posted: 1 year ago by bevissimo
While we were whistling the Andy Griffith theme, bemoaning the loss of d**k Martin, Sydney Pollack and Harvey Korman, we lost a really big Hollywood composer. Alexander Courage, the composer of Star Trek fame, also passed.
May he rest in space.

If anyone can find one and upload, please do.

I haven't been able to get them to load either. Looks like the Rookery bug is back, thought it was defeated.
I tried to link to an image like normal - didn't work.
I tried to access existing images - didn't work.
I tried to download an image, resize it to square and upload that - didn't work
Interesting bit about the theme:
Without Courage's knowledge, Roddenberry wrote lyrics to the theme—not in the expectation that they'd ever be sung, but in order to claim a 50% share of the music's performance royalties. Although there was never any litigation, Courage later commented that he believed Roddenberry's conduct was unethical. Roddenberry was quoted as responding, "Hey, I have to get some money somewhere. I'm sure not going to get it out of the profits of Star Trek".
The lyrics bit and stealing 50% of the royalties was the motivation for Courage's leaving the series. Later episodes would use stock recordings from his earlier work.

Here are those lame ass lyrics BTW.
RIP Mr. Courage.
Be-yond the rim of the star-light
My love is wan-dring in star flight.
I know he'll find
In star-clustered reach-es
Love, strange love
A star-wo-man teach-es
I know his jour-ney ends nev-er.
His star trek will go on for-ev-er.
But tell him while
He wanders his star-ry sea,
Remember,
Remember me.
I have been saving the text file with those lyrics since 07/13/1991 across at least five different computers. Today is finally the day the text file had an actual use.
