Why did I get upvoted for my opinion (comment #13) when I have the same opinion (more or less) as 'Shake? How could you agree with me and not with them? Maybe I got my opinion across without so much misinterpretation. Maybe our opinions are different, but I don't think so.

« doggylives : Again wow. I didn't ask about your child or my child, I asked whether you would prioritise a "random childs" life over an animals.

What makes me sick to my stomach is that you have so little regard for human life and are so selfish that you'd let a child die because you've had no input into it's life. Sick.

You haven't answered my question, are you vegan?
You're selfish if you think your opinion and what you care about is the only right way and what I care about and have worked hard for doesn't matter.
I would be a vegan if it wasn't for my love of eating babies. I'm done with you. Good day sir.

« SUBobISIS : Mersh, I know you're smart enough to know what I meant.

Edit: mosquitos, then.
Still. I highly doubt anything has formed an emotional connection with a mosquito, or any pest for that matter. This isn't about physical harm (to tell the truth, most insects might not even feel pain) so much as emotional conflict. I would say that I would begin to save a dog that belongs to a family of four and is loved deeply/would be terribly missed over a vagrant that has no family/friends/desire to make something of themselves.

Doggy, what about that deserved a downvote? Now you're just being spiteful. Grow some thicker skin if that truly offended you.

Wow, way to run out on a discussion. Why are you avoiding my question about you being vegan so vigorously?

I understand that, but if neither of them had any emotion connection, if they were both vagrant with no family/friends/desire to make something of themselves, which would it be?

I hate people running out on discussions and seriously why are you questioning who I and why I downvote?

Ask Milkshake why she downvoted a load of my comments mersh, lets be fair about this.

I wouldn't be able to make a decision without that information. My genes, my body, my whatever makes me no better than any other set of DNA on the planet. For that reason it very much depends on the circumstances.

Fair enough. While my opinions are a bit different, I can see where you're coming from.

I question because I want to know.

Edit: Forgot to add that I don't particularly like people running out on conversations but I certainly don't think that it's worth a downvote.

Ask Milkshake why she downvoted a load of my comments mersh, lets be fair about this.
I hadn't noticed, but, in the sense of being fair, your level is much higher than Shake's. A downvote from you takes her/him down a level. A downvote from him/her doesn't harm your karma in the least bit.

I see your point but I disagree. I'm not going to harp on as it'd be nice to keep a thread on-topic for a change :)

I gotta say though mersh you are one of my fave plimates, you are polite and personable beyond your years.

*editz* f**k me, that last bit sounded patronising, sorry mersh, wasn't meant to sound like that.

« SUBobISIS : So by this logic, you would be more upset about the death of some random puppy on the other side of the word that the cruel torture of your own beloved front lawn?

They are all just living beings on the Earth. So do you mow your lawn? Do you eat salads? You're a horrible person. Would you rather slice a tomato or murder a child? That tomato could've had a family, yet you would happily destroy its way of life just to save some human. HOW MANY BLADES OF GRASS HAVE TO BE SEVERED IN HALF BEFORE YOU REALIZE IT'S TORTURE. IS IT BETTER TO EAT A PLANT JUST BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE A MOUTH TO SCREAM WITH? DO YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO KILL THE INNOCENT BACTERIA? HOW MANY PATHOGENS HAVE YOU MURDERED TODAY?

If you're going to start measuring the value of life, take into account all living things. So if you're going to support the poor puppy over the human, putting them on equal playing fields, you're putting the puppy and the human on equal playing fields with plants, pathogens, single celled organisms, etc. So, which would you preferably murder?

That is the stupidest argument I have ever heard!

But I think you guys misunderstand, we are not saying the puppy is valued more that a human, not even close.
But does that make what these guys did ok? Of course not, it is still a horrible thing to do.

Why does there have to be a comparison? Can't it just be what it is, on it's own?
