This is very definition of Involuntary Manslaughter.

The parents and the board members of the Followers of Christ church should be arrested and charged with the crime they committed if there is any justice in the world.

Agreed, except for the "involuntary" aspect. I think it was wholly voluntary on the parents part. They were well aware of the possible (if not inevitable) outcome.

from a legal standpoint, it would be involuntary. The death came about from their negligence. They didn't intend the boy to die.

No. A logical, rational and intelligent person would be aware of the possible (or inevitable) outcome. That does not describe these people. They have used their faith to completely blind themselves to reality. They honestly believe that prayer* alone can cure any disease.

Point well made.

Here is the only prayer I've found worthwhile;

O Lord, please don't burn us.
Don't grill or toast Your flock.
Don't put us on the barbecue
Or simmer us in stock.
Don't braise or bake or boil us
Or stir-fry us in a wok.
Oh, please don't lightly poach us
Or baste us with hot fat.
Don't fricassee or roast us
Or boil us in a vat,
And please don't stick Thy servants, Lord,
In a Rotissomat.

Here is the only prayer I've found worthwhile;

How about this one?

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk,
At home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and The lager.
Forever and ever,

Barmen

UM.....Okay. Thanks for that, I'm sure it will put my cousin's mind at ease. I was just kidding anyways, praying always gets you into heaven. Especially when you throw in a cheer for God.

When will enough evidence arise against god so that insane people like these can finally stop doing things like that? What will it take to get them to accept reality? How many times will this happen before people get it, and stop praying for their children to get better, and get them actual medical attention?

Never.

Any evidence presented will be brushed off as the work of Satan or God trying to trick us.

Any failure of the prayer will either be brushed off as a failure or lack of faith on the part of the person(s) praying or simply that it wasn't part of God's plan.

For some, faith just can't be defeated - certainly not with logic or even evidence.

When will non-believers stop taking these crazy zealots and judging the rest of us with them. I believe in God, that doesn't mean that I believe he will heal my broken bones if I just pray hard enough. Don't judge us by our worst examples.

A farmer is in Iowa during a flood. The river is overflowing, with water surrounding the farmer's home up to his front porch. As he is standing there, a boat comes up, The man in the boat says "Jump in, I'll take you to safety."

The farmer crosses his arms and says stubbornly, "Nope, I put my trust in God."

The boat goes away. The water rises to the second floor. Another boat comes up, the man says to the farmer who is now in the second story window, "Jump in, I'll save you."

The farmer again says, "Nope, I put my trust in God."

The boat goes away. Now the water is up to the roof. As The farmer stands on the roof, a helicopter comes over, and drops a ladder. The pilot yells down to the farmer "I'll save you, climb the ladder."

The farmer says "Nope, I put my trust in God."

The helicopter goes away. The water comtinues to rise and sweeps the farmer off the roof. He drowns.

The farmer goes to heaven. God sees him and says "What are you doing here?"

The farmer says "I put my trust in you and you let me down."

God says, "What do you mean, let you down? I sent you two boats and a helicopter!!!"

Not only is that a great joke, but it's so relevant to this. From a religious stand point, God gave us the minds and means to make medicines and heal. How then is seeking medical attention a sin?

When will people stop thinking every statement is about themselves? :-)

If you read back, no one grouped all believers into the same category.

Rogue's statement explicitly limited the group he was talking about to people such as the ones in the article, not every person who believes in a god.
