And yet I am led to believe by other sources (namely a number of BBC Foreign Correspondents) that by far the biggest consumers of dog meat are Western tourists.

The small numbers of Chinese (and Koreans) who do eat dog do so once or twice a year, in the depths of winter, because in terms of Chi it is just about one of the hottest foods there is. No-one would be eating that in the height of summer.

No-one except Western tourists who eat it year round in the mistaken belief that it is the done thing.

But that wouldn't fit in with the popular view so how about we just gloss over that?
