Covering the Death of Tony Snow
Covering the Death of Tony Snow
"Goebbels With Better Hair"
An L.A. Times editor approved hateful comments on Snow’s obituary. CNN’s iReport quickly filled with bile. However, the left-wing “alternate media” (so named for the universe they inhabit) produced the most searing and deliberately offensive coverage. picked by ImNotBlue 1 year ago

FULL DISCLOSURE: The site featured here is a right-wing blog, from conservative commentator, David Horowitz.

I've wanted to post something on this particular topic since shortly after Tony Snow's passing come out. However, no one source had put together such a comprehensive list of the nasty, disgusting, and vile remarks, as Mr. Johnson (the author) did. And since this is a story nobody in the MSM will pick up, I had to use this (admittedly biased) source.

It says something about our society when comments like this, are somehow acceptable.

Ahh, hypocrisy is alive and well on both sides of the aisle.

I feel badly for Mr. Snow's family. I also hold little repsect for Mr. Snow since he "carried water" for the most criminal administration in my life time.

There is a big difference in disliking someone for political reasons, while still respecting them as a human... and dancing on their grave.

Civility seems to be out of fashion.

Hating people is never cool, never hip.

Regardless of which side you stand on, being the press whipping boy is one of the hardest jobs in the white house. Mr Snow was honest enough to say "I'm sick. I love my job but I'm leave because I need to make more money. That's how sick I am". For that he gets kudos.

His family doesn't need to read the hate mongering.

IMO, there hasn't been a conservative in office for alomst eight years.

The Neo-cons (stress con) have dragged this country and society to the bottom of the barrel. They are anything but conservative.

My disdain for "neo-cons" is not based their nomiker, but the harmful actions of this group. I loathe this administration not because its the hip, or popular thing to do. I detest them for their tax-break (for the wealthy) and spend habits that have decimated our economy. The neo-cons have basically taken our constitution and used it a toilet paper. Their "war on terror" has left us more vulnerable and less able to defend ourselves.

No, its not hip and cool to "hate" based on a title. It is required to hold accountable those that have led us down this path, as well as those who would continue to do so.

This Red/Blue, Librul/Wingnut mentality is ripping this society apart. And it saddens me to know that there is a segment of this society who engage in this kind of behavior with glee.

p.s. Vex, I'm not directing this at you per se, but your comment got me to reflecting upon this issue. Thanks (really) for the mental kickstart. :)

People who make their living with political blogs need notoriety. One way to do this is with outrageous statements. There are also more than a few "False Flag" writers appearing to be who they are not ... for whatever reason. The voters are being played against one another, and the country seems to be dividing quickly ... and for what? There's not 2 cents worth of difference in the electable candidates. They both have the same goals ... to make the government bigger, and screw the people.

Exactly! Though I can't rule out a few danceable graves out there*. I think Twain said it best (and I've probably paraphrased it here at PLime before); I will wish no man dead, but I will write letters approving of their funerals.

I am not dancing on Mr. Snows grave. But I'm not going to let sentimentality fog the truth of what actions he enabled.

I will say I liked Mr. Snow better than Ms. Perrino. At least he was a press secretary that was familiar with the Bay of Pigs. :)

"Truth": Another word that is used instead of the more accurate "Opinion".

You didn't come across as a "dancer" per se. And while I do agree, there are some graves that would make fine dance floors... we'll both agree it helps and accomplishes nothing.

Perhaps it is opinion that we were lied to about Iraq and its ties to terrorism. Perhaps it's opinion that the 4th amendment was gutted with the FISA vote. Perhaps.

That Mr. Snow defended these "opinions" is a truthful statement. His motivations are more open to opinion.

Indeed agreed. It does accomplish exactly that...nothing. :)

Are you old enough to recall John Belushi's video of him as an old man
dancing on the graves of all the original "Not Ready For Prime Time PLayers"?

Exactly, very well said.

I don't understand those who seem to think there should be no accountability for the mess of the last 7 years.

However articles like these, no matter what "side" they're on, are pure garbage. Most thinking people will recognize them as such.

Exactly what part of this article was garbage?

And where's that "here's how I've picked apart your post," that you're always asking for?
