Beginning today in Beijing, cars with license plates that end in an odd number are banned from the roads every other day, alternating with cars that have even-numbered plates. I'll stay out of the above discussion as it is not my cup of Kool-Aid.

I will make the point though that every other day driving has been going on in Mexico City for many years, and it's still terribly polluted, to the point that it's even hard to breathe INDOORS. Hopefully Bejing isn't doing too much, too late.
