discrimination? Not in the least.

The rule is "no jewelry". That rule applies to everyone - well it is supposed to apply to everyone.

It isn't discrimination if it is a general rule such as that. If others were allowed jewelry and she wasn't because it was religious in nature then it would be a different story.

Not they might as well as throw out the rule and every other dress rule they have.

"The High Court has previously refused to uphold a teenager’s right to wear a chastity ring at school as an expression of her Christian faith and a 13-year- old Roman Catholic girl’s right to wear a crucifix on a chain. "

So it depends on which religion you are. Either you deny religious jewelry for all or for none.

There is a big difference between this and the other two mentioned. For a Sikh, the bangle is actually a part of the standard beliefs that they all are supposed to adhere to if they consider themselves to be keeping their religion, while jewelry for Catholics and Protestants are just traditions tangent to the actual religion. In the case of the Catholic girl, there would have been more similarity if it had been a rosary rather than just a necklace.
