Internet Censorship is on it's Way: The i-Patriot Act
Internet Censorship is on it's Way: The i-Patriot Act
Amazing revelations have emerged regarding already existing government plans to overhaul the way the Internet functions in order to apply much greater restrictions and control over the web. picked by carguy4life 1 year ago

What a suprise! We never should have allowed radio to be censored... it started us down this path with the minority thinking they can tell us what to see or hear... the FCC is as unconstitutional as they come... and yet we tolerate it because we are bombarded with "psuedo" issues that really have no impact on our lives, but are kept in the limelight to whip the public into a frenzy... and keep our eyes of the real issues at hand...

I recall a wonderful quote... "Beware someone who would withhold information from you, because in his heart, he sees himself as your master"

I can see how the Patriot act could restrict civil rights in the US, but how would the i-Patriot act restrict the internet, which is global?

It could only restrict US traffic, as-per China. But then there's always proxy-servers...

I agree... The i-Patriot act will only censor the content for Americans, and anyone else living in the continental US and its dependencies. There is no way that other countries will go for this, with the exception of say, England (Here is looking at you, Toni Blair).

The Patriot act was a brain child of the Bush Administration, wasn't it?

The net is vast, and I can guarantee you that there will be a lot of server migration overseas, just so there can be high internet traffic again.

Hypothetical nonsense.

The Patriot act was born out of paranoia after 9/11, which has cost thousands of lives.

An incident on the world wide web would never have this great an impact.

According to the article, the Patriot act sat in mothballs untill an event surfaced that would allow them to use the paranoia of the populous to pass it unrestricted... it was the greatest blow to civil rights since Jim Crow...

If people's identities or credit card info is stolen en mass... or the military servers start crashing, or wall street, you can bet your ass that there will be panic... and you can bet someone will try to push their agenda on the back of that wave... I think you underestimate just how much the web is integrated into American life...

All those things already happened before in the past, and current law is sufficent enough . As long as there are no actual casualties, it won't have the impact needed.

The "impact" is not what is required. All that is needed is an excuse.

The impact is needed to create an excuse.

I agree. All that was needed at one time was the impact of the allegation of aluminum tubes.

TUBES?

The internet is made of tubes!
