Definitely a sad day. He gave so much to us.

His songwriting was remarkable with such classics as "Soul Man", and of course his hit albums, singles, and his acting showcased what a talent he was.

Did no one else notice THIS passage from the story?:

According to Hayes' official Web site, the music icon was set to play himself in a musical comedy starring comedian Bernie Mac, who died Saturday.
