Dark Tourism - How dark are you?
Dark Tourism - How dark are you?
"Dark Tourism" was coined to describe trips to places associated with disaster and depravity. And whether you care to admit it or not, you're a dark tourist. picked by teaya21 3 years ago

great article, thanks for posting it. Guess I'm pretty dark too cause lots of the places mentioned are on my list to visit one day.

And it's a good thing that people learn about the horrible things people are capable off, in the hope that they will learn from it and that it won't be repeated in the future. Just as long as the people visiting enter these places with the respect and dignity expected in places like this.

Good article, but the way it's worded paints everyone to be a criminal. "You're dark. Admit it, you're dark!" LOL

Some of those places I would like to visit, but the tsunami disaster areas? I'd rather just send them (more) money....

Yes, exactly.

Now: How do we actually let people LEARN from those visits? Not doing so great so far...

ofcourse there will always be people visiting, for example, auschwitz, and all they can think about is where the nearest bar with cheap beer is. But most people are willing to educate themselves and learn lessons from the past when the right means are provided.
