Foul-Talking shopper gets arrested by fire marshall
Foul-Talking shopper gets arrested by fire marshall
This is insane. A lady uses the 'f' word. A fire marshal demands she watches her mouth and insists that she come talk to him. She questions his authority, he makes a huge scene, handcuffing her and writing her a ticket for disorderly conduct. The only disorderly conduct was his. picked by bernardblack 1 year ago

The woman apologized when he said something about it. Why did he have to drag it on like that? I think someone was on a power trip. I dont think I would have went to the car with him. What if he wasnt who he said he was and was trying to abduct her???

We have a suit against a local fire commisioner for tackling and handcuffing his victim without ever saying, "you're under arrest", "put your hands behind your back" or anything to that effect. I'm sure they get limited training, but the Power Trip aspect is a big part of it. I hope we can somehow use this story.

who's downvoting people for saying f**k? It isn't just to be crass, it's to make a point in a caustic fashion. I don't like cussing and this doesn't bother me, what did you expect? LAME-OOOOOOO!! I can only upvoted the fallen so much though :)

Seriously. Totally ridiculous, I mean yes, out of context "f**kity f**kity f**k" isn't the best post, but it makes sense here...

Edit: In fact the irony is DRIPPING

I actually love the irony in this. It's been mentioned in the past that Europe and Canada don't have a real freedom of speech because hate speak isn't allowed there.

On the other hand, you're free to say f*ck there all you want. You're free to say sh*t on prime time TV (at least here in Belgium).

Yet, in the land of the free, where disrupting funerals for soldiers because them dieing is "God's punishment for gays", is perfectly legal, you're not allowed to cuss in public?

I see no way for this woman to lose her suit if she has the will (and the money) to see this all the way to the Supreme Court.

I admit it, I was one of the downvoters.

His first post which simply said "Well, f**k." is at +40, I didn't downvote it. It has the irony/sarcasm and a little bit of the 'ha' factor.

His second post which said "f**k f**kity f**k f**k f**k!" I DID downvote. He made his point/joke in the first one, this was just pushing it. Karma currently at +4.

His third post which said "Heh..
I got downvoted ^^^^ for saying f**k.

Your bad language has warped my fragile, little mind!

f**key-doo." is at -13.

With each post he is showing less that he is making a point and more that he simply is pushing the envelope farther. And with each 'foul mouthed' post he gets further down in Karma. He is adding nothing to the discussion, he is simply cursing. And that kind of behavior SHOULD find itself going lower with each time it happens.

Why?

What's so bad about it?

...I would say Intent. If you want to write a post about how the moon landing never happened and how superintelligent talking mice are secretly whispering homophobic propoganda into our ears while we sleep, I might give you an upvote. It's a matter of making a point, sharing a view, and writing intelligently to support your opinion. It furthers the community even if it's just to bring out people into discussion of cheese vs scissors.

If you come on Plime and want to act like some kind of 4chan kiddie and insult people, curse (and giggle) like a kid, or disrupt a CIVIL conversation you'll find yourself downvoted.

The intent is different. One adds to the community. The other takes it down a notch. Just as real filth invites real cockroaches virtual filth left out of control invites others whose only purpose is filth.

A joke is one thing, hopefully he sees that he went too far.

If you'll examine the posts in this thread which are highly ranked, and those with only a few points I think you'll see that a great deal of Plimates agree. Those posts which add discussion and viewpoints are by FAR much higher than the "teehee I said a bad word" posts.

And no. I don't mind the cussing, I don't want it around my family/friends/civil conversation but I am not so much of a prude that I simply downvote anyone automatically. But I DID downvote the next two for simply being trashy spam.

Edit: Figured I'd get downvoted for having the guts to come forward and admit that I downvoted. Should have just kept my mouth shut but I don't play that way. Seems that a good deal of Plimates agree with me anyways as his three comments have gone Further down.
