I certainly don't condone the corruption or molestation of children, but what I fail to understand is why they wait so long to come forward? A major excuse is "fear." But for 40 years?! C'mon... one of them is already dead. Pick up and move on.

That one is easy. $$$$$.

For some reason, all it takes is an accusation with 0 proof and you will be given 1000's or even several 10's of thousands of dollars by the church who sees it is easier to pay off than for the bad publicity.

This really disgusts me. Most crimes, you need proof. Sex crimes need none. Accusing the clergy is even easier, everybody assumes it is true because of the old jokes/sterotypes.
