I kinda wish I had found this first. I can't stand most soda-pops, so I enjoy hearing about them getting bad publicity.

I hear you.

I personally believe that soda drinks are responsible for a large part of the obesity problem.

The trouble with our consumerist society is that we see it on the shelf and assume it's fine. I mean... they wouldn't put something on the shelf that's *bad* for us... would they?

We're actually Coca Cola collectors and drinkers....but I believe that moderation is the key....I'm not obese (5'8" 137 lbs.) also your family history and metabolism plays major parts to this...plus exercise people get off the couch!!!!

Yep. All of the above will help. Unfortunately, most people don't do any of the above.

Coke is an absolute institution, it tastes great and it's one of the most powerful brands in the world. It's still horrible on your body though.

So I'm not the only one that really, really doesn't like this stuff then? Since I was a kid I've never truly understood the stuff!

I'm not usually a cola guy (unless there's some vodka or rum about), but it's obviously bad for you. It's interesting to read about the axact process that your body goes through, though. Awesome post.

I wonder how this process changes with diet soda? The sugar reactions won't happen the same way, but I'm sure there's something else that goes on that makes it just as scary as the regular kind...

Wow. This information, which is important to know, should be publicised. So well done for sticking this on Plime.

Though it's not as if we didn't know Coke was bad.

As the article said, it's not just Coke either, most if not all of the sodas out there will do the same to your body. Let's all get back to drinking water*

*although not from plastic bottles because that leeches nasty chemicals into the water**

We got some Crystal Geyser water that tasted like gasoline and when we called to complain they said it was a "food grade lubricant used to help the caps twist off and was only used with juices and sodas because that covered the taste up" YUCKKKKK

Nice, thats just great. Man, i remeber the good old days, comming home from school, opening a coca-cola, (the adds got me, i was very brand loyal) and then spending the next hour either running around the house screaming, or sting down to watch TV and twitching gently. Wow, at least now i know why.

This is why I avoid Coke and just stick with black tar heroin.

lollage!!!

well i used to be a pretty heavy soda drinker...although in recent years i switched to diet colas (not for the whole 'omg i have to diet!' thing...but because regular sodas where just too sweet).

and i know the sythetic sugars in diet colas are just as bad...so recently i quit drinking sodas ( i was drinking a lot...on average 3-5 a day!!!) i just didnt like the way my body was feeling

so...i quit drinking all soda or about a month....and now i occasionally have a soda, but its maybe once a week and usually its a clear soda

im surprised that for how much i used to like colas, i no longer have a taste for them and its only been a few months...i mean i really used to crave sodas, but down dark colas are so unappealing to me...the spell is broken! ^_^
