Reddit is taking a page out of Fark's and others playbooks, selling spots on its page. Most users of sites such as Plime don't like traditional ads. There are companies who pay people to secretly post articles to increase their traffic. Take out the middleman and allow for sponsored articles = potentially millions of $$$$
