It's not mutation, it's evolution... Just like you are faired skinned and not able to withstand the sun, I am dark skinned and better able to withstand the sun, but not by much.

Today, the 'wings' will be considered a growth that does not harm the animals quality of life.

Tomorrow, the 'wings' will be functional...

Understanding of course that evolution is a loooooooooooooooooong process spawning many generations

Polyploidy?

The only polyploidy I'm aware of in mammals was found in rodents (Nature, Sept. 1999).

It would be intersting if this were such a case in felines, but I get the impression that many of these wings are either kitty dreadlocks (sp?) or supernumerary limbs (per 2many's link above).

All we'd have to do is infiltrate their compound and put Cat Nip into their kibble mix. The apocalypse kitties would lose their minds...rolling around on the floor swatting at things that aren't there (lol at least that's what my kitten does). There gonna want another 'high', and thats how they will become pwned.
