Hidden in Darkness: "Trunking" is Dog Fighting's Ugly Secret

One of the most barbaric forms of animal cruelty has an underbelly which for years has remained literally hidden in darkness: “Trunking” is dog fighting’s ugly secret. picked by horsefeathers 1 year ago

Damn...some people are a waste of DNA.

I started feeling sick to my stomach as I read the article. My first thought was to throw these rectocraniates in a cage with a grizzly, clasp my hands behind my back and whistle a tune as I rocked back on my heels.

Or perhaps a super sized meat grinder would suffice to rid the gene pool of these barbarians.

Soylent Green?
No, I don't think that they're good enough for that, either.

They always gotta be pitt-bulls. Those dogs freak me out. I ALWAYS get nervous around them. It's now pretty much common practice that a couple of my friends that have them will put their dog in another room or in the basement when i come over. (they are actually even very friendly too, its just that i was mind fu*ked about pitts awhile ago)

I grew up watching dog fights. I moved to Detroit at the age of 5. And the fights covered a good 3-4years of my childhood. They happened in the backyard right next to my house. I remember i would just peer out of the kitchen window. I knew it wasn't right, but seeing it at that age, and that often, I didn't realize just how wrong it was. I was scared to go outside, couldn't ride my bike without being scared when the dogs were on the balcony. in one instance a pitt jumped off the upper balcony and landed on a man that was on the front lawn. There were a few men, just standing around talking. My neighbor owned 3 pitts...and they ALWAYS won. scary f*ck*r$.

I feel bad for the dogs who are subjected to this...as well as people who may live near pitt-bull owners who raise their dogs to be killers or attack people.

I couldn't handle living near it. It's bad enough just knowing about it.

I've never met a "mean" pit bull. All the ones that I have been around/near have been big love bugs.

Animal Planet tonight at 9pm is having "Animal Witness". It's about Mike Vick and where his dogs are now and how far they have come.

I tend to keep an eye on pit bulls too but this article gives hope that these dogs can be rehabilitated from fighting.

It shows what has happened to Michael Vick's dogs since they were siezed.

Of course.

Pit Bulls were bred to be "the poor man's horse". They were bred to be all muscle. They're like machines. Absolutely amazing. They even use to be used to pull people out of burning buildings.

Then some backwards twit realized that they could fight these amazing animals. So they did.

After a while, the media caught on to the dog fights. After the media caught on, trashy, stupid, a*****e idiots got the idea that owning a Pit Bull makes you appear tough. They viewed the breed like how some view guns.

The media and the backwards idiots who think having a Pit Bulls makes them tough do nothing but hurt the breed's reputation.

This makes me recall when Whoopie Goldberg tried to pawn Michael Vick's thing off as "Souther black culture." She also said that nobody made a big deal about cockfighting which is big with Mexican populations. Whoopie, from the bottom of my heart: Shut up!

If your culture likes to see things suffer just for money and pure brutality, that part of your culture just sucks.

Oh I'm going to have nightmares. That just makes me sick. Aren't there things like Ultimate Cage Fighting Championship Blood Fest Muscle Ring Battles that are supposed to fulfil people's blood lust? I don't care much if the people choose to put their lives in a dangerous and bloody situation. It's another issue entirely when the lives at stake are those of animals who cannot choose for themselves.

Personally I don't even reckon they should be bred.

To be fair, Ultimate Fighting is actually safer than a lot of other forms of fighting, especially since they instituted weight classes some time ago. The ref's stop fights before things get out of hand usually, which means the bodies tend to take less long term trauma. Boxing, on the other hand, results in people getting their head hit over and over again for an hour with no stopping.

Still, your analogy is well taken. Good job.
