I began making Bento boxes about a month ago...I only hope to become as creative as some of these. Thanks for the post and the wonderful ideas.

I have always wanted to do this! I am not sure if I could find the boxes here though.

I would think microwave dinner dishes would work in a pinch.

My kids are like cats. They turn their noses up at most new things. But hey, I like it. I think it is cute.

I went to one of our local Japanese grocery stores Saturday. It's fairly small.

They had the little critter-shaped soy sauce containers, the boxes, individual sized packets of some of the sauces, the green plastic 'grass', little rice molds, and the gyoza wrappers. They didn't have the egg mold, the funnel, or much variety in the boxes. The workers were very helpful though, and so kind. When one couldn't find what I was looking for, another took up the hunt although it obviously wasn't there.

If nothing else, the cultural experience was worth the trip. It was fun!
