May 22 to be Harvey Milk Day?
May 22 to be Harvey Milk Day?
The California State Legislature has passed a bill to have May 22 as Harvey Milk Day. It is currently being withheld until the budget crisis is resolved. picked by ashlesdc 1 year ago

Oh please no. I live in california, and I don't have anything wrong with gay, but I still don't like the idea of a harvey milk day. Haven't we solidified ourself as the gayest state in the union with SF already? Again, nothing wrong with gay people, I just don't want to be categorized any more heavily by the rest of the world.

Only reason I'd be opposed to this is that I don't think ordinary citizens should be given a day to themselves.

That is, if it becomes a government holiday.

Such as MLK Jr. Day. It irritates me that Washington and Lincoln's birthdays are combined into one "President's Day," but MLK gets a day to himself. And I don't like Lincoln.

I think Holidays should be for Presidents or events. Not for ordinary citizens.

EDIT: I guess it wouldn't be a paid state holiday, in which case I find no problem with this case.
