Seaton...has lost the enjoyment of life, according to the lawsuit.

Understatement of the year.

But this IMO is only a little bit worse than what would have happened if the doctor did nothing, and told him what they found:

"Uhh, we could not finish the circumcision because we found out you have f*cking D*CK CANCER"

I mean jeez...this guy has got a run of bad luck here a mile wide.

I actually think this is more over-dramatized than necessary.
f**k, I know a guy with no penis. He's pissed off, but he compensates in other ways, y'know?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

As for the guy, he had cancer. It was pretty obvious to the surgeon, he did what the right thing was... medically. But he didn't have permission to do the right thing, so he's wrong.

No good deed goes unpunished I suppose.

It probably saved his life, but I knew a guy who had prostate cancer and opted to not have his prostate removed, even though the doctors told him it was the only way to fight it. He didn't want to give up the sex.

He ended up dying within about 6 months, when he would have almost certainly been cured. His wife tried in vain to get him to do the surgery.

I think I would opt for life over sex.

It sounds like he had a very aggressive form of prostate cancer or was diagnosed late. Removing the prostate doesn't mean your sex life is gone, it will just change. There are also other options to surgery - radiation, seeds, chemical castration.

Too bad for him and his wife, but he made his decision.

I too would opt for life over sex.

Gentlemen: Get your PSA and DRE annually if you are over 50 or have a family history of prostate cancer.
This has been a Public Service Announcement from suebe.

And if you need to ask what a PSA or DRE means, you definitely need to ask your doctor for the tests asap.

I don't think the surgeons have a chance in clearing their names. To them, they were doing the right thing which could've potentially saved this guys life but on the other hand as pointed out already, they didn't have permission to do so.

As for the "enjoyment of life", I don't think it neccessarily means what we're all thinking. It could be that due to the mental anguish suffered he has simply lost all desire to do anything.

The guy went to sleep knowing he would wake up with a small piece of skin gone... instead he woke up with the whole lot gone. It's like being told that you need to have a finger amputated and waking up without your arm.

I agree with that but would add that it should be done every year regardless of age or medical history. I get an annual health check and thankfully nothing's ever gone wrong but it's better to be safe rather than sorry.

If I found out I had penile cancer, while I'd certainly consider the removal option if there was nothing else, I'd also want some time to throw the little guy a hell of a goodbye party.
