I'm glad the doctor was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, but even losing his license is too much.

The sex here was 100% consensual. It isn't like the guy got a spontaneous erection, the doctor pounced on it and gave him a happy ending all in a matter of seconds before the patient could even think about what happened.

The doctor saw the erection, they probably commented on it, the doctor made his move and the patient was all for it. Only after the several minutes it took for the doctor to finalize his actions did the patient have second thoughts.

No, means no. "No" means no, at any point DURING sex. "No" afterward does not mean "no".

It isn't like the patient was under some sort of medication or was told that a blowjob was the proper treatment for kidney problems.

It was totally inappropriate for a doctor to perform oral sex on a patient. It is very unprofessional.

That being said, however, it does not say anything about his ability to be a doctor, and he was punished unfairly.

Well to be honest this doctor can't really practice medicine anywhere again anyway. All of this doctor's patients would be men with boners and no real medical problems.

unprofessional?...yes.
reason to lose your license?...probably not, an official warning should do.

Of all the courses of action, oral sex isn't quite the first thing that would come to my mind if I were a doctor. Although, I bet that the patient probably can utilize his, er, equipment for more interesting undertakings. I think we'll see this guy again.

I did laugh at this, but I find it disrespectful and I feel it warrants a downvote.

I also laughed, inappropriately so, and upvoted because I didn't feel it needed THAT much of a downvote. More of a 'ahem.. no. that was bad' vote.

Just as a therapist shouldn't have relations with their patients, or a lawyer shouldn't have relations with their clients, doctors are under the same moral-restrictions with their patients.

The patient was paying the doctor, the doctor had sex with the patient, this is prostitution, not medicine. It was not right for him to do, right then.

Had he noticed it, offered to see the man later and they proceeded to... do stuff. Nobody would have had any right to do anything to the doc. But while under the care of a physician that physician shouldn't be 'messing around' with you.

If nothing else, it creates an environment where simple medical procedures like prostate exams are open to interpretation and it's difficult for other physicans to operate.

Honestly, I don't think he should lose his license, but I do think he should be fined a large enough fine, that the next time a patient gets a hard on, he will suggest meeting up after work, instead of blowing them in the examination room.

There's nothing I hate worse than having to wait on some doctor that's holding up my appointment time cause he's giving happy endings to patients before me.
