a 13-year old girl sends naked pictures of herself to several boys. One of the boys is arrested for receiving the pictures. The girl isn't arrested because she is the ~~culprit~~ "victim".

Seriously: He is a CHILD, secondly, he didn't do ANYTHING, thirdly (obviously) the GIRL has to be punished, fourthly THEY ARE CHILDREN, they shouldn't be arrested for these things. A good talk at starters would be nice, but outright ARRESTING children ?

That aside. What next? There was the story of the train engineer that had just sent a text message (to a teen, BTW) just seconds prior to the fatal crash in California.

I know it is a multi-billion dollar industry for the cell phone companies, but (and I am the first to disagree with al-a-carte regulations) when are the phone companies going to be regulated and forced to remove all the texting from cell phone usage.

Call me old, but all I use my cell for is making and receiving phone calls. I don't even have a downloaded ring-tone.

So far only the 13-year-old boy has been arrested.

Police and the school district are not discussing actions against any of the other students.

I sent some of my male buddies nudie pics of myself when I was 15 or thereabouts. It wasn't because I was molested, it was just because I was kind of a slut.

Ten to one says this girl is kind of awkward and was unpopular in grade/middle school. She grew herself some boobies, got some male attention and erroneously decided to capitalize on that.

Dear lord, I hope for her sake she doesn't have a webcam...

I would say she probably wasn't. Nor would I call her a "slut". Such things are growing more and more common. Today is the age where women and yes, young girls are acting out their sexual urges and the explorations.

In a society that sells thong underwear for 10 year old girls and far worse, is the fact that some 13 year old girl is sending pictures of herself that unusual?

According to my friend's son who just turned 14 it isn't all that rare, uncommon yes, but not unheard of.

the police probably found out because the whole school knew about it. Let's face it if there were several boys receiving nude shots of some young girl, they are going to talk and brag and show it off to people. There is no way that could be kept under wraps. (Assuming it wasn't found by some parent)

maybe the boys who weren't allowed to see the pics ratted them both out.. or she sent it to one boy thinking it would be just for him and he sent it to all of his friends.. I mean he was a football player.. we are known to do stuff like that

Theamelia has a good point, there are some really big holes in this story and I'd love to hear the rest of it.

How did police find out? Why isn't the girl prosecuted? What did the boy do with the pics? (other than possession)

It seems.. well.. odd. Perhaps, and this is pure speculation, the boy was the one who took the pics with HIS phone. That could constitute a charge against the boy, exonerate the girl of guilt, and provide a means by which police found out.. (the girl). This would fit this charge. None of this is actually said in the article though. Possibly protecting the girl and/or because of juvenile records being sealed?

Too many holes. Need.. details.

Well, it's pretty obvious that the girl should be the one in trouble, but the more disturbing matter is the fact that authorities somehow found out about this instance.
Nowhere on the news report does it say how exactly police found out about the pictures. It never said the girl ratted the little boy out. Why would she? Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be for police to see naked pictures of your budding, self-conscious 13 year old body obviously taken by you? Would her parents really expose her like that? Would the boy or his parents do something that could get him locked up?

They said it was done for a schoolyard game in the article. My how times have changed.. I'm only 23 and I feel like an old fart.. we used to play tag and your reward was maybe coping a quick feel on the girl u liked or falling to the ground with her while trying to tag her.. but I guess their version of tag is if u catch them you get a nude pic.. maybe the girl wasn't a slut but she was just a slow runner and good sport..

Her parents must be so proud. When and where did she take these photos? Hmmm, if you look at it through the eyes of the law, she took the pictures and had to look at them herself so she should be accused of self-pornography. Arrest her!

I'm pretty sure a 13a boy knows what those terms mean.

I'm also pretty sure the boy doesn't deserve any more punishment than the girl(s) who sent the photos in the first place.
