I'm interested in seeing what Abrams can do with Trek.

However, I am going to make a prediction.

There will be a lot of pissed off nerds over this.

I am disappointed by the styling that I am seeing. It seems to be using dated technology with a very contemporary styling. I should think that it would be cooler to have the characters interact with a holographic, 3D environment, rather than the traditional 2D display. It allows for more efficient conveyance of information, and a much more realistic representation of data.

Maybe it's supposed to look retro, but I'm just not feeling it.

Hey, I'm just saying that they didn't push the boundaries as far as they could. I welcome the departure from the shatneresque universe that we had thirty years ago, I just think we could get even farther from it.

I just want to know if there will be tribbles, and if so, what the trouble with them is?

Honestly, as much as there were flashback scenes, I'd rather watch something about the TNG crew w/Picard at the academy.

Okay. I'm just saying that my prediction is already coming true. I'm feeling kind of prophetic is all.

I am super excited, even though I'm not a HUGE trek fan (used to watch TNG when I was younger though) buuuut J.J. Abrams + Damon Lindelof + Simon Pegg = YAY.

Also Michael Giacchino doing the music is awesome as well.

Considering this is essentially a Trek "prequel", they probably didn't want the technology looking light years ahead of what was in the original series.

If anything, the bridge should look a lot MORE clunky and outdated.
