World's first walking house is unveiled
World's first walking house is unveiled
Designers say it provides an ideal solution to the problem of rising water levels as the house can simply walk away from floods.

Maybe the design should be mandated for all new Gulf Coast construction. It could walk away from hurricanes. picked by tigertony 1 year ago

Don't we already have something called "mobile homes" that are just a tad more practical?

We can't even get the PEOPLE to walk away during a hurricane/flood. What makes you think they'd actually hit the 'walk' button on their homes?

And where would the homes walk to? Wouldn't that cause a slight traffic jam?

:)

Silly conjecture on a crazy idea.

I would have loved one of these as a kid. All it needs now is a pokemon, and my child hood fantasy is complete.

Oh, wait. it's not made of chocolate.

is that what they call a house in denmark?

better off just building on a beached barge. that way you can stay safe in your home hovering over your property as the tide rises... it's also a good way to circumvent those pesky wetland zoning laws for all those into the bargain of cheap swamp marsh property.

This is stupid. What a waste of resources. If any of the scientists who built this ugly contraption are reading this, drop what you are doing right now and call up your other goofy-ass science buddies and figure out how to cost-effectively reduce homeowner's energy consumption by two-thirds. If you can build a stupid walking jail cell, I'm sure you can figure out how to do that.

I'm with you. This would have been a lot of fun as a clubhouse. The wood stove kind of scares me, though. Weird heating selection.
