Ex-ACORN worker: 'I paid the price' for voter registration fraud
Ex-ACORN worker: 'I paid the price' for voter registration fraud
Clifton Mitchell helped register nearly 2,000 voters for the community group ACORN. But not one of them actually existed.

Not as a knock against either political party, but as a point that voter fraud does exist and it is something we need to be aware of. picked by JoshSF49 1 year ago

I think that if I was put in that situation, I would seriously consider making up names to meet the quota, but I don't think I would go through with it.

He was in a tough situation and he made a mistake. If he really did learn his lesson than good for him. Most people deserve a second chance if they really try and change their ways.

I don't get what the big deal is being made about ACORN. From what I've come to understand, it isn't fraud, per se, unless 'Mickey Mouse' shows up to vote on Election Day. The organization is required by law to follow through with the registration of all applications, even those that appear to be fake.

I'd imagine there'd be enough volunteers to do this kind of job. Paying people is just begging for trouble.

Still, the problem is nowhere near as drastic as some people are making it out to be.

The problem is that in many locations, ID is not strictly required. As some of our international Plimer's and I have discussed, unlike some countries, the US does not require a national ID card to vote. False documents can be presented pretty easily, and sway an election quickly.

Registering "Mickey Mouse," is dumb... registering "Mickey Johnson," even though he's been dead for 4 years, and then voting as him is less dumb, but more damaging.
