If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer, Obama declared

There's been a spate of them joining up and adding that URL into their comments.

I sent messages to the first few, hoping that it was people just not understanding.

Made no difference, sadly.

First of all I extend congratulations to Obama on his victory and election as President. As an outsider I hope that he can deliver on the promises he made but not make any drastic calls that will have a profound effect on most throughout the world.

I heard something during the election coverage last night that was perfect. When they asked another Senator about the seeming victory, he made the best point. He said something along the lines of... "America is electing a new president, he has the right policies etc but he just happens to be black." That's supposed to come off good but I can't seem to think of the right words to express it via text.

I really don't want to come off as a complete asshat or anything but can we now stop hearing the word "change" so much? I've been awake for an hour now and I've heard it at least 3 times a minute since then. I understand why it's used so much but it's getting a little overused.

I went to sleep confident that Obama would win. I woke up to find out the incredible vote of confidence the country has given him.

I truly hope he lives up to his promises. This is a historic time for the U.S.

Haha, I guess my Canadianness shows here; I thought of the Great Big Sea cover instead of the original REM song!

(I like Great Big Sea's cover better than the original)

I think this comic summs it up:

Even though I do think that Obama is a good choice, there is still alot to do.

Good or bad who knows? I guess the next 4 years will tell. No matter who won, I want to see the new Pres. put his money where his mouth is.

Maybe plimes most adamant Obama supporters can take a page out of his most excellent speech last night.

"I will listen to you, especially when we disagree..."

« stelladora : Yeppers. Too bad our earlier democratic process hadn't a similar ending... wait, what were our choices again? Oh, that's right. Forget I brought it up.
This is one of the reasons I get so frustrated with voters, or rather non-voters.

If you don't like any of the candidates, wreck your ballot!

Imagine the message Canadians could send to our government if "none of the above" received more votes than the winning candidate!!

Voter apathy makes me so mad!!!

I don't know why people are downvoting your opinion. That's an inappropriate use of the down vote. A simple, I disagree will suffice.

Let me be the first to say I agree with you. This is the end of the world as we know it.

This is the start of a new and better era.

Although I did not want Obama as president, I certainly hope he tries to deliver on his promises.

However, his speech last night did NOT make me feel confident when he has already conceded that it will take him two terms to get anything accomplished:

"We may not get there in one year or even in one term." - Obama, Nov 4, 2008

With all due respect, look at what needs to be done. Our economy alone is going to take more than 4 years to sort out.
I'd be more disappointed if he got up there and said "Yup, I'll take care of it in my first year. No problem."

« ImNotBlue : Yup... when "my guy" wins, everyone is smart. When "my guy" loses, everyone is dumb.

It's not so much either of them... but a whole lot of "me."

Ego is a powerful thing. You can make your mind up about an ENTIRE COUNTRY... just based on their agreement/disagreement with you.
Election season is over. I've done enough debating. When I woke up this morning I felt that argumentative mind set to have washed away.

I know stupid was a bad word to use, but I was elated and tired. See now my excuse mind set it back.

Election's are the most expensive reality (show period actually) show ever.
