Chris Matthews Admits He's In The Tank For Obama
Chris Matthews Admits He's In The Tank For Obama
"You know what?" Matthews said. "I want to do everything I can to make this thing work, this new Presidency work."

Before the questions and attacks begin, here's why this is important: Media bias, and a "journalist's role." Should journalists, as Matthews suggests, try to "help" the administration... or just report on it? [From HuffPo] picked by ImNotBlue 1 year ago

Such a statement is compounded by the buzz that Matthews is considering a Senate run himself, in Pennsylvania. The rumor is that he'll be running (as a Democrat) against Arlen Specter... however, he has yet to confirm or deny it. Heavily praising Obama, might help him with that.

And the thing about this situation is that I don't think Matthew's is a "journalist" per se. He's an opinion commentator, so his wanting Obama to succeed is fine.

However, his suggestion that this is what journalism should be about, is flat wrong.

Keep up the good work. It will help distract from the removal of the dollar which is scheduled to begin happening in nine days ... or haven't you been keeping up with the little things?

I'm actually unfamiliar with what you're talking about. I tried searching for something, but with no luck. Perhaps a link?

And why can't I be concerned with this industry of mine? It's still a money making industry (one of the few)… and one that has some pretty strong impact nationally. Why shouldn't I be interested?

But either way, why should I worry? The "One" has won, everything will be fine... right? ;)

This Chris Matthews story really bothers me. I think it's sad because there are many like him. Like McCain or not, he didn't get a fair shake in the press and that is hard to deny. I hope journalistic integrity is restored through this administration and Obama is quickly made to realize he does not have a friend in the press.

From the article: "Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski pressed Matthews on his claim, asking if it his his job as a journalist to make the Presidency work.

"Yeah, that's my job. My job is to help this country...to make this work succsesfully, because this country needs a successful Presidency, more than anything right now," Matthews said."

For me, that right there seals the fate of any claim to journalism.
Tantamount to saying that as a scientist its my job to fit the facts to my conclusions. Any claim to objectivity is lost.

Oy-vey... I should have known. More "Ron Paul" stuff.

Look, I know you were a big fan, and that's great an all... but you're starting to get a little, well, over the top about this. It's like every answer you have, is "Ron Paul."

He's just a politician... you may agree with some things he's said... but you've got to keep perspective here. He wasn't going to save the world, he's not Superman, and he's not the Messiah!

I respect your convictions... but all this Paul Paul Paul Paul, is getting to be a bit much.

"How's the weather today?"
"Sunny and warm... very Ron Paul."

"How are you feeling?"
"I'd be better if Ron Paul was here."

"Is there something you'd like for dinner?"
"How about some Ron Paul, with mashed Ron Paul on the side?"

I exaggerate, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, as for the summit. Sounds interesting, but there really isn't much to talk about just yet. After it takes place, perhaps we can report... but for right now, I think saying "Mark your calendars, Nov. 15th is the day," really covers it.

(I hope you don't think me rude, or out of line. Just giving you my opinion, for what it's worth.)

Yes, I know that you cling to exaggeration. Most people who have little or nothing of value to add to a discussion, tend to fill it with exaggeration.

No, I don't think you rude. I do think you are at a constant loss to figure out what life is about ... making your opinion (for what it's worth), worthless.... at least for the next few years

If you don't like your own opinion, why bother saying it? I often agree with myself... although in retrospect... that guy is sometimes a jerk.

LMAO ... we could have taken every post you made in the last six months and said, "Sounds interesting, but there really isn't much to talk about just yet. After it takes place, perhaps we can report...
Well, what would you like to talk about in regards to the summit. I'd be interested to hear, but I'm not going to sit and watch a Ron Paul video right now.

No, I don't think you rude. I do think you are at a constant loss to figure out what life is about ... making your opinion (for what it's worth), worthless.... at least for the next few years
You mean I haven't figured out what life is about, or because I haven't figured out that you're right, my opinion is worthless? I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

All I'm trying to say is that "hero worship," isn' a good thing... and I really value your opinion here on Plime, and don't want to see you become such a Ron Paul copy-paster, where every response is "Ron Paul knows."

"Hero Worship" are your words. There are no politicians who are heroes. In fact, national leader's job is to nothing more than to make sure the constitution is followed. It's a sad day when a person can become someone's hero just because he simply tells the truth, and his voting record actually matches the promises he has made. Nobody needs a hero, all they need is a little common sense.

INB, why would you post something from such a biased source?

You're always so vocal about people who post from biased sources that it surprises me that you too would do it.

Or is it ok if you add "HuffPo" in the description?

Well, as I've said... apparently, when I hoot and holler about biased site, I'm the wrong one. However, when I post something from a biased site, I'm also the wrong one. Go figure.

This story, from HuffPo, was pretty well put together, I thought. And since the criticism was of someone FROM the left, about a position they have trying to advocate FOR the left, a left-wing source criticizing that comment was appropriate. Left criticizing left for being too left, seemed to have more impact.
