App Store? That doesn't make sense. Otherwise, Apple was a major player in shaping the computing industry. Bill Gates was too. I was shocked that the birth of Windows wasn't one of the days.

Nah, I don't think windows was important. '95 maybe, but windows was terrible when it came out.

I wouldn't say the birth of Windows was important, but the birth of Microsoft Office was.

The first time a suite of applications was introduced which was interoperable. Before Office, people used Lotus to make their spreadsheets, Wordperfect to write their documents, and Dbase for their database... None of which would even remotely speak to eachother.
