Go Topless - Equal Topless Rights For Women (NSFW)
We are a US organization, claiming that women have the same constitutional right to be bare chested in public places as men.

While this sounds a bit frivolous I really think it raises a damn good point. Why should it be ok for a man to go topless but not a women? Because the western world has sexualised a womans body so much that it's considered wrong? picked by DoggyLives 12 months ago

I think this whole argument works off the assumption that women do not have the same kind of relationship with men's bodies that men do with women's. If we did, this discussion wouldn't be taking place.

Josh makes the reasonable - though not, in my opinion, accurate - point that visible breasts may cause an increase in rape as they could titillate would-be rapists. Most women on the other hand, don't really jump at the opportunity of seeing male genital organs. There are differences. That's the whole point, I guess :)

(And I don't think being a guy who doesn't necessarily like boobies is totally alarming either way...)

How is that different from any time? Isn't that what most guys are ultimately after all of the time? They see a pretty smile and want some, or see the hint of cleavage or an alluring backwards glance or the glimpse of long legs through a slit in a skirt or.....etc etc...

You probably know this better since you're a guy and I'm not, but... give your gender some credit! They're not going to start raping women just because they see boobies!

I wouldn't know

Most guys aren't going to rape, either. We're talking about extreme cases.

In fairness we aren't talking genitalia here. Were talking comparing a womans chest to a mans. Men are allowed to bare their chests in women aren't. Not men are allowed to walk round with their d**ks out so why shouldn't women show their Woo-Wah's

Rape would not go up any more than it does every summer when shorts and bikinis come out.

Do halter tops cause an increase in rape? Short sleeves?

At first, men would stare even more than they already do (and yes, you aren't being sly about it, no matter how much you think you are, myself included), but after a while, guys would hardly notice.

Rape is NOT a crime of passion.

It is about power, not sex. A rapist uses actual force or violence — or the threat of it — to take control over another human being.

I don't think rape has any bearing on this at all.
