Deaf dalmation given a new lease of life after learning sign language
A deaf dalmatian which was trapped in a world of its own has been given a new lease of life after learning sign language.
The spotted dog called Zoe was born profoundly deaf and had failed to bond with its owner who was forced to give her up. But staff at an animal shelter began to teach the 18-month-old pooch basic sign language through a series of hand commands. picked by AutumnLotus 12 months ago

Dalmations have a tendency for deafness as a result, it is estimated, of the purebred breeding.

What a great adaptation by Zoe, dogs are just great!!

We had a dog that we taught sign language to too.

She turned deaf at 15 and lasted another 4 years stone deaf.

We officially taught an old dog new tricks. She was surprisingly quick at learning too.

Bull terriers get deafness as well.

So far, mine only have "selective" deafness, but I would totally adopt a deaf bully next time.

The white boxer pup my sister rescued is deaf and she is being taught sign language. It's cute, sometimes she will turn her head away when you make a sign with the whole mentality of "if I can't see you I don't have to listen".
