Britain Is 'Unfriendly' For Religious People
Britain Is 'Unfriendly' For Religious People
Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor claims that the rise of secularism has led to a liberal society, hostile to Christian morals and values, in which religious belief is viewed as "a private eccentricity" and the voice of faith groups is marginalised.

« dollyllama : This is true, our forefathers made a lot of progress. They had radical and untraditional insights which were considered treason and almost universally considered appalling then. Much like atheists today. Guess we should just stop any more progressive thinking lest we be labeled heretics and blasphemers and certainly amoral.
AH....but they were (at least the majority) still religious people, and although they did not want a church in leadership, wanted to found a nation based in the basic principles of Christianity. I don't think they had "radical" insights...I think they were tired of being bullied. The British (and the forefathers were "British" until they committed treason) were the most powerful nation in the world at that time, they were not used to being subservient. They chose to get rid of the King who made them basically slaves. They didn't want to get rid of religion.

Despite what the founding fathers were and what they wanted, separation of church and state is still a good thing. A country cannot be truly Free if it bows to one type of religion over others.

« TheShirtPocket : Silly Catholic, not ALL religious people are marginalized in the UK.
Another way to look at that would be:

The Daily Mail is a racist newspaper spreading hate and ignorance.

See this is exactly what dude is refering to. In seeking to through off the shackles of "religion"
man kind will now find themselves slaves mind, body, and soul to the cruel and unforgiving taskmaster of popular consent.

« Interesting : Your right...pesky founding fathers believing that all men were created equal by God and thinking that this was a good reason to commit treason against an evil king. If only they could reason that no one is truly evil and that it is the survival of the fittest the US would still be under the rule of Britain. I hate it when others impose their beliefs on us!!!
